“Let’s imagine the best of chocolate” is what Valrhona proposes. So, before we begin tasting, let’s delve into our imagination!

Valrhona is a cornucopia of pleasures for all chocolate lovers, where everything is designed to indulge your senses and your curiosity. Where does the cacao tree come from and what does it look like? How do we get from bean to chocolate? What is the correct way to taste it? Why is chocolate good for your health? The answers to these questions and many more can all be found in this paradise for epicureans and hedonists.

Interactive visit

This multisensory journey will reveal all of chocolate’s secrets so you can truly and fully appreciate its flavour. Pass from visitor to enlightened connoisseur as you learn about chocolate recipes, discover the table of aromas and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the chocolate factory. Visits last on average 2 hours, including both tastings and educational activities.

Activities

Valrhona is above all a place of discovery: for only €1, you can treat yourself to the "Chocolate Experience" workshop.

With so many great choices on offer, be sure not to miss the mini production line, where the coating happens (even just the idea is mouth-watering…). A fun and delicious workshop that has been a roaring success! Other educational themes are also available, such as the “from pod to nib” workshop, where you’ll learn all there is to know about the cacao tree. And with “Taste and its mysteries”, discover one of our most complex senses through a series of fun and yummy chocolate-based activities.

Eating...

The Comptoir Porcelana is Cité du Chocolat’s self-service café! Come and taste, no doubt for the first time ever, some of our savoury chocolate dishes.

Ecole des Gourmets

Fancy getting your hands stuck into some pastry making? Well now you can, and we would even recommend it! Choose between:

  • Pastry workshops (30 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes): these workshops will teach you a combination of pastry and chocolate making techniques.
  • Level 1 and 2 pastry courses: over a half-day, perfect your technique and make recipes you never thought possible with the help of a Pastry chef.

Shop

The Cité du Chocolat, Valrhona is a must-visit attraction if you are passing through the Drôme region. The museum has everything you would hope for: an interactive learning experience, including tasting and guides who delight in sharing their love of chocolate.
