Professionals: let’s fight against food waste!

Here at ONLYLYON Tourism, we think that there are no insignificant actions when it comes to creating more responsible tourism. Are you a professional working in the catering, events or retail industry with concerns about the waste generated by unsold food? There are solutions out there and the association Chaînon Manquant (which means ‘missing link’) can help you.

How does the association work?

Taking care to keep the cold chain intact (using a refrigerated lorry), a team of volunteers collects food from your premises.

For Chaînon Manquant, acting fast means wasting less. Using a just-in-time approach, food collected is redistributed to other local associations via short supply chains. This system enables waste reduction, even for fresh, fragile food with very short use-by dates.

Why give to Chaînon Manquant ?

The association helps reuse unsold food by giving it to charity organisations, which in turn redistribute it to underprivileged members of society.

For you, this offers a chance to contribute to a solidarity initiative and give a second life to your food, which is redistributed to thirty or so beneficiary associations.

Positive actions create positive news! Being involved in a responsible initiative is rewarding for both you and your customers.

Practical info

In Lyon, the association organises collection rounds throughout the week with its own lorry.
