Solutions to assist you
The Lyon metropolitan area has seen many innovations in terms of accessibility. Today, there are solutions to make events accessible to everyone, whatever their disability - physical, sensory or mental. We invite you to discover them and why not contact them.
A Universal Accessibility Pack for events
The Pack Accessibilité Universelle (PAU – Universal Accessibility Pack) for events is a collaborative initiative led by four organisations in the social and solidarity economy, based in Villeurbanne: PAIPS, Inclusiv’Events, Acces’Festival and La MIETE. This collective provides comprehensive support to make events inclusive and accessible for all. The PAU offers modular packages including:
- Assistance for managers and teams, to configure the application in preparation for the various tasks to be performed (organisation, running of stands, etc.);
- Awareness-raising among employees and the event team.
- Operation of the Com’NOUS app for the duration of the event, to enable people facing obstacles to find information and communicate rapidly and simply.
- Provision of services and innovative accessibility equipment, including vibrating floors, 3D models, audio induction loops and more.
All the info is available here.
Inclusiv’Events trains and raises awareness among professionals in the event industry
This organisation offers advice and training to event organisers and their service providers in order to optimise accessibility for people with disabilities.
Inclusiv’Events coordinates the handicap volunteer team at the Jazz à Vienne Festival and also works with the Woodstower Festival and other cultural entities such as the Renaissance Theatre in Oullins. If you would like to set up this type of reception for your event, do not hesitate to contact them. They also carry out awareness-raising activities for organisations such as companies, local authorities or training centres.
CauMobility, universal accessibility pathways
Initiated by Inclusiv’Events, the CauMobility solution consists of a removable flexible floor made with flexible and resistant material that seamlessly adapts to surfaces. It allows to make temporary events accessible to the blind and visually impaired, and to people with reduced mobility.
Winner of the 2019 Innovation Awards, CauMobility was founded next to Lyon, in Villeurbanne, by the La MIETE cultural association teams and AMAAC-Access’Festival, in collaboration with the You Factory FabLab.
By choosing this easy-to-install solution for your event, you play an active role in making it more accessible to a greater number of people. Don’t hesitate to contact them for more information.
SWING le Lab, innovating to make shows in Lyon universally accessible
Based in Oullins, SWING le Lab is an innovation hub dedicated to the creation of shows that combine sound and light. Engaged in promoting inclusion, it has developed the ‘Bouquet accessibilité’ (accessibility package), a set of systems designed to make cultural events accessible for all, regardless of audience members’ age, culture or abilities. The package includes solutions such as vibrating floors to feel music, tactile models to explore architecture and audio-descriptions via the DiscretSon app, as well as marked-out paths and spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility.
These innovations have been deployed at several events in Lyon and its metropolitan area. One of them was the sound and light show ‘Fourvière en voix’, which was projected onto Notre-Dame de Fourvière Basilica during the 2024 Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights). Nearly 1500 people with disabilities benefited from the systems provided.
Evelity and Andyamo, for accessible events in Lyon beginning with the journey
In Lyon, event accessibility now extends to urban mobility thanks to two major innovations supported by Keolis Lyon: Evelity and Andyamo. These digital tools enable visitors with disabilities to get to event venues with greater ease and independence.
Evelity is a voice guiding app that orients people with visual impairments in metro stations. With its precise sound indications, Evelity enables event-goers to find their way around unassisted. It is presently available for users at the stations Bellecour and Grange Blanche.
Andyamo is a journey planner specifically designed for people with reduced mobility. Directly accessible via the TCL app, this solution takes into account urban obstacles, stairs and accessibility facilities to provide personalised journeys. During the 2023 Festival of Lights, for example, Andyamo enabled numerous festival-goers, in wheelchairs or with buggies, to easily navigate the light installations around the city centre.
