Event Venues

Lyon for Events (Eurexpo, Convention Centre and La Sucrière)

A responsible actor in the events sector, the group GL events has applied a sustainable development policy for a number of years, in particular through the deployment of a programme of actions known as ‘Think Green’ and the establishment of a Code of Ethics and Practices, which encourages a responsible attitude to the environment. With this in mind, GL events Venues and Lyon for events*, specialised in event venue management, are committed to an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, with the aim of satisfying the expectations and needs of stakeholders, limiting environmental impacts and avoiding pollution risks, ensuring the compliance of sites within a demanding regulatory framework, and satisfying increasingly demanding international clients in the choice of event venues. Integrated in the operational management of sites in France and Lyon, this continuous improvement approach is based on four major challenges: controlling building energy consumption, managing waste produced during events, optimising building water consumption and reducing CO2 emissions related to our activities.

Châteauform' Lyon Saint-Nizier

Châteauform‘ City Lyon Saint-Nizier

In a former school, in the heart of the Presqu’île district, Châteauform’ welcomes its guests “just like at home” in a warm, cosy interior featuring second-hand objects and a silk theme.
The Chef’s eco-responsible cuisine is focussed on quality, seasonal and mainly local produce, and adapts to the expectations of customers.
Certified ISO 20121, like all of the Group’s French establishments, it promotes CSR and humanist values, on the basis of its philosophy and approach named ‘ReSpEct’:

  • Respect for customers: by ensuring their satisfaction, comfort and safety, as well as respect for partners.
  • Respect for talents: : through safety and well-being at work, recognition, training and skills development, as well as job market integration.
  • Respect for the environment: by participating in the circular economy, combatting waste and pollution, and measuring its environmental footprint in order to reduce it, through recycling, reduction of plastics, local sourcing and the organisation of sustainable events.

Hosting more than 120 events per year and welcoming more than 40,000 participants with a smile, L’Embarcadère is an essential environmentally responsible actor. Opéra National de Lyon

The foundations of the Lyon Opera House’s societal responsibility were laid as early as 2003, with the idea of an opera house that shares art and culture with all sections of society. Since then, the Lyon Opera House has become a centre of artistic resources for all, sharing its know-how with a wide audience, including socially, geographically and economically disadvantaged citizens, youth and companies. As a cultural institution, the Lyon Opera House seeks to be exemplary and contribute to the sustainable development of its city, its region and beyond. For more than 10 years, it has focused in particular on integrating sustainable development in the performance of its missions and the application of its values. Following a carbon assessment in 2009, it introduced an energy efficiency optimisation action and, as of 2013, it conducted studies to promote the eco-design of scenery built in its workshops, in particular in relation to cardboard use. During corporate events, the Lyon Opera House’s sustainable development approach is expressed in its catering, which favours the use of seasonal and local produce, prepared on-site

Event services

MCI France

As the first events planning agency to sign the UN’s Global Compact, in 2007, MCI Group is a pioneer in the production of environmentally responsible events. MCI Group is one of the first firms to have created a Sustainable Development Consultancy Unit. At MCI France, in addition to charity initiatives actively supported by colleagues (such as ‘Restos du Cœur’ and ‘Papillons Blancs’), the 300 conventions and events managed each year are subject to an environmentally responsible approach, in terms of the teams’ day-to-day management and proposals made, from simple initiatives to highly engaged schemes.  For example, a partnership with the NGO Bibliothèques sans Frontières, based on the principle “one conference participant = one book”, helps supply SAMU Social emergency services, refugee camps and emergency accommodation centres, a partnership with UNICEF for cloakroom management makes it possible to fund the purchase of thousands of vaccinations against polio and save children by buying high-protein foods, and a partnership with PHENIX enables the reuse of food and non-food products. Let’s continue to make event planning an exemplary sector in the service of the public interest!

Lyon City Tour

Alone we go faster; together we go further. For more than 10 years, Lyon City Tour has offered panoramic tours of the city’s remarkable sites with its double-decker buses and, for the past two years, tours of the Croix-Rousse with Lyon City Tram, which have been a resounding success. Our tours offer a different way to see Lyon and its monuments, retelling moments of life on the city’s streets.  In addition to the original tour, visitors appreciate the fascinating commentary and anecdotes, which enrich their knowledge of the destination. Our teams of drivers, reception staff on site and administrative staff are all passionate about what they do, because, for us, success means satisfying our visitors and providing a quality service. Because the environment is one of our major concerns, we are involved in the “Objectif CO²” programme. This charter of voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combined with a certification scheme, enables us to reduce our fuel consumption. Environmental awareness is raised among all colleagues (including drivers, mechanics and administrative staff) and they all make a contribution, from regular vehicle maintenance to energy-efficient driving and recycling.
