La Source Voisine is a new initiative driven by the ideal of local sourcing. This neighbourhood sourcing promotes human contact, the preservation of expertise and respect for the environment.
Since June 2010, La Source Voisine has been enabling businesses and local authorities to source locally for their events: buffets, gifts, seminars, etc.
A locavore event caterer originally from Savoie and based in Lyon for several years, La Source Voisine is committed to sustainable growth through:
- boosting the local agri-food economy
- prioritising the use of local equipment, packaging and presentation dishes
- limiting waste and reusing equipment in line with the circular economy
- employing disabled workers or those on integration programmes for certain tasks
- clean logistics: some deliveries are made by bicycle and an electric vehicle collects and delivers food
The concept of “local” is relative. It can be defined at the departmental, regional, national or continental level. At La Source Voisine, a local product is defined as one that is produced within an urban area, guaranteeing a local supply chain for that city. Local sourcing helps to balance residential, industrial and agricultural areas in communities.
La Source Voisine works with 400 producers around the urban areas of Savoie, Annecy, Albertville, the French Genevois and Lyon. They are all located within a radius of approximately 30 kilometres.
The producers are farmers, artisans and family businesses located in the area. The fruits of their labour provide employment in our region.
Last but not least, the products are chosen for their taste and originality. Fresh produce naturally follows the seasons and releases mature, rich flavours. Ideas abound in small workshops and on farms. Producers find unexpected combinations that caress the palate and delight the taste buds.
