What is an “urban rally”?
A modern treasure hunt in the city. With your smartphone, scan a QR code and discover the highlights of Lyon’s districts by following the digital tags.
The information provided is complemented by observation-based questions that can earn you points. Find out whether you’re a true ‘gone’ or ‘fenotte’ (a ‘lad’ or ‘lass’ in Lyon’s local lingo).

Walks and Secrets: Vieux-Lyon (Old Lyon) takes you back into the history of the Saint-Jean neighbourhood, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with Lyon’s famous puppet ‘Guignol’, from the third century to the present day.
Duration 2 - 2½ hrs*
*This time does not include breaks, visits inside monuments and the ‘bouchons lyonnais’ (authentic local eateries).
Walks and Secrets: Fourvière, the hill where Lyon’s history began
From Antiquity to the present day, explore ‘la colline qui prie’ (‘the hill that prays’, as it is known by locals, due to its religious importance).
Discover Lyon’s origins and learn about the history of its first inhabitants. The walk includes natural landscapes and cityscapes that can be viewed from the panoramic viewpoints and esplanades.
Unique views of Lyon and the surrounding area in all directions. Duration 2 - 2½ hrs*

Walks and Secrets: Croix-Rousse, the slopes and their mysteries.
This adventure on ‘la colline qui travaille’ (‘the hill that works’, as it is known by locals, in reference to its historical importance in Lyon’s silk industry) offers a chance to learn about the rebellion of the ‘canuts’ (Lyon’s former silk workers), famous local figures, the ‘traboules’ (hidden passageways) and less well-known parts of Lyon’s history.
1000 steps will take you through a colourful, mysterious and lively part of the city. The “hill of 1000 mysteries” has witnessed important historical events.
The tour includes the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), the Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and Place des Terreaux.
Duration 3 – 3½ hrs*, with muscular calves and comfortable walking shoes.
