Marriott Hotels & Resorts

View over the park

In February 2015, a new establishment arrived in Lyon under the brand Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Located in the heart of Cité Internationale, near the Convention Centre, Contemporary Art Museum and Tête d’Or Park, and with 204 rooms, the Lyon Marriott Hotel Cité Internationale is the first Marriott Hotels establishment to open in the region. The owners of the hotel, Les Clés du Luxe, are planning major renovation works during 2015. Overseen by architects Albert Constantin and Marie Courdouan, the works will involve the rooms, meeting areas, fitness centre, and restaurant, and should even involve the creation of a new bar.

Summer at the Beaux-Arts

The hotel Mercure Lyon Beaux Arts and its 76 rooms have just been fully renovated, with a decorative scheme created by Parisian firm Blanchet D’Istria. Some of the hotel’s Art Deco style has been preserved, as in the marble floor in the lobby and the 1930s light fittings in the bathrooms.

The rest has been given a contemporary makeover, which restores the splendour and prestige of this 19th century building: a rounded reception desk now stretches all the way to a wine bar, zebra and leopard prints adorn the seats in the rooms, large photo prints are placed at the head of the beds, and the walls are painted in shades of white and taupe. The hotel is located in the city centre and has been awarded the ECARF (European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation) quality label.

La Maison

A sleeping beaty awakes

Nestled between the Confluences Museum and Halle Tony Garnier, the restaurant ‘La Maison’ (formerly known as ‘Maison Borie’) will be opening its doors, and huge terrace, in mid-June 2015. The happy owner, Benjamin Lavorel, wanted to bring back the splendour of this 19th-century building by fully renovating its 700 sq. m of indoor space and 400 sq. m garden.

The result is set to live up to his ambitions. The venue will include a restaurant with capacity for 250 diners (including 100 outdoors), a new area available for private functions on the first floor, with its own terrace, audio and video facilities, and capacity for 150 guests in a theatre-style layout, or 300 guests for a cocktail party, as well as three bars (including one outdoors), a boules pitch, and more. In terms of food, the restaurant will serve a “chic brasserie” menu created by Chef Laurent Vernet. At the end of the week the venue turns up the volume, welcoming clubbers and champagne lovers.

Domaine Lyon Saint-Joseph

The good life

The decorative scheme of the Domaine Lyon Saint Joseph restaurant’s main dining room (which can seat 100 diners) has been colourfully redesigned by local decorator Yves Boucharlat.

The use of orange for the chairs, hanging decorations and large sepia prints creates a gentle, understated atmosphere.

Come and enjoy lunch or dinner in this new, welcoming setting, which accommodates both locals and visitors from further afield for a gastronomic experience far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The 12-acre park offers a variety of options for catering or outdoor activities. Domaine Lyon Saint Joseph also has 20 meeting rooms, including a 200-seater amphitheatre.
