Renovation of the Lyon Tourist Office

Welcome and Bienvenue

The first point of entry to the city for more than 600,000 visitors each year (or 10% of people who come to explore Greater Lyon), the Lyon Tourist Office on Place Bellecour has just been given a makeover.

Following three months of work aiming to provide visitors a more warm and attractive welcome, the Tourist Office now has a more spacious and contemporary interior.

This visitor reception centre, which was built in the 19th century, has been entirely redesigned and renovated under the guidance of architect Damien Carreres.

The floor layout has been uncluttered to provide more room and make it easier for visitors to move around, the lighting has been designed to enhance the spacious new interior, and even the olfactory dimension has been taken into account with diffusion of the ‘mystique et gourmand’ fragrance used in the scented candle created especially for Lyon.

The highlight of the renovation is the large two-by-ten-metre screen, which has been installed behind the reception desks. Pictures of the various things to be discovered and tasted in Lyon are displayed in panorama.

A warm and welcoming space, the Lyon Tourist Office (which is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week) provides information for visitors in five languages and there is also a counter to purchase tickets for major events in Lyon.
