Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport... Lyon unfurls its wings

With 30 lines opened in 2016, including 20 new destinations (such as Dakar, Moscow and Montréal), Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport has sped up its growth and is aiming to welcome 15 million passengers between now and 2032, in order to become the second biggest point of entry into France.

A major expansion project was launched in 2014 to absorb increasingly dense flows. Result: a new-generation airport offering comfort and intuitive circulation for passengers, who have been discovering it over the past few weeks.
On the 11th of April 2017, the new Terminal 1 Hall B opened its doors to passengers of low cost flights (EasyJet, Transavia, Air Arabia and Pegasus).

Since September, flights run by many other airlines are also operated in the new Terminal.
The Place des Lumières welcomes travellers in a 10,000 m² area with shops, restaurants, entertainment and relaxation facilities, making it a true living space.

The next step: fully linking up Terminal 1 Hall A (the original terminal) and Terminal 1 Hall B. With the new layout planned for summer 2018, a total of 70,000 m² of additional space will be created, doubling the size of the airport.

Everything has been designed so that the customer experience is simple and efficient, with easier orientation and direct flows.

Digital technology at the core of the airport

The passenger experience is at the core of the entire design of this new space. In addition to new technologies used in the terminals, such as body scans and Go-to-Gate, passengers are assisted by a digital system.

Real-time flight information, parking space location, a “Shop&Collect” service and a range of entertainment are provided via the “Aéroport Lyon” mobile app.
Passengers can also interact throughout their journey in the airport, with numerous screens along their path making it possible to communicate with people waiting for them at their destination, share on social networks or find their next destination.
